Will solar actually work on your house?
Sometimes the answer is no. Most companies will not say that out loud because they only get paid when you sign. Here is what genuinely decides it.

- A south, southwest or southeast facing roof plane with room on it
- Little to no shade over the array through the middle of the day
- A roof with plenty of life left, or one you are replacing anyway
- Meaningful electricity usage to offset
- Plans to stay in the house a while
Reasons we might tell you no
- Heavy tree cover you are not willing to cut back
- A roof near the end of its life that needs replacing first
- Framing that will not carry the load without structural work
- A usable roof area too small to make the project worth the cost
- An HOA or jurisdiction restriction we cannot work around

Why is there no savings calculator or tax credit on this page?+
Because incentive programs change, they differ by state, and plenty of companies quote them as if they are guaranteed money you will definitely receive. We would rather talk with you about what actually applies to your situation at the time you are buying than publish a number that may not be true when you read it.
How long does the whole process take?+
The install itself is usually a single day. What sits around it is permitting, county inspection and utility permission to operate, and those depend entirely on your jurisdiction. We give you a realistic window for your specific address rather than a number that sounds good.
Do I need a new roof first?+
If your roof is near the end of its life, yes, and we will say so. Putting an array on a roof you will replace in a few years means paying us twice, once to install and once to detach and reset. We would rather you do the roof first.
Will my system work during a power outage?+
A standard grid-tied system shuts down automatically during an outage. That is a safety requirement so line workers are not exposed to power from your roof. If staying powered through outages matters to you, say so at the evaluation and we will walk through what that would take.
What happens after the install?+
We stay with the system. Inspections, cleaning, critter guard, troubleshooting and repairs are all handled in house. See existing systems.
Are you licensed and insured?+
Yes. GN Solar Solutions LLC holds Maryland Home Improvement Commission license #168849, listed as active with the Maryland Department of Labor. We are licensed, insured and bonded, and certificates are available on request.
Do you speak Spanish?+
Yes. Evaluations, proposals and paperwork in English or Spanish.
